Whirling Dervish - Handmade Sculpture
Description: I formed a skeleton with a durable wire and covered it with sculpture dough.
I made the hat and the whole body out of dough. Dress is made by sewing the fabric, hardening it with plastic glue and colorizing with oil paint.

Story: Mevlevi is a transcendence of consciousness. Those who do Sema(Sky,Heaven) are called whirling dervishes. Sema means hearing. The dress and movements of the whirling dervishes have deep meanings.
The turbans on their heads are called coins and symbolize the tombstone.
The white clothes on them is called tenure and symbolizes the shroud.
They do not represent death, but life, rebirth.
Reborn is being born with high consciousness from the physical world and into the spiritual world.
Salute is given 4 times while making semah. These are the doors. Shariah, seeking and finding the path of God. Sect the path. It is the gateway to ingenuity, mastery and truth.
The right hand of the whirling dervishes looks to the sky and the left hand to the ground. So; It gives the energy that it receives from God to the people.
In this way, the real body, the higher consciousness is reached
As Semah begins, there is a black cardigan on them and they start to take it out, which symbolizes the exit from the grave, ie the rebirth.
